About Me

Celia Strange Bowen Therapist Colchester

I am a registered Bowen Therapist and a Rahanni Angelic Healer. I worked for many years as a Chartered Physiotherapist in the National Health Service. After retiring in 2007 I trained to be a Bowen Therapist with the European College of Bowen Studies, in Frome in Somerset, and I qualified in June 2008.

In August 2009 my wonderful husband, Graham, had to have emergency surgery for spinal cord compression at T4 caused by a multiple myeloma tumour. From being able to cycle 9 miles a day and training for a marathon he was bedridden and virtually a paraplegic. I was so blessed at being able to give up my practice and nurse him 24 hours per day.

He has now made a truly remarkable recovery because of our strong Faith and his tremendous determination to regain his health. He received superb care from the National Health Service and progressed very well. Now I support him in being in charge of his own body’s healing with alternative methods such as a sugar free diet, plant based supplements and Vitamin B17 plus regular exercise, daily meditation, prayers and spiritual learning. You can find my husband on Face book, “Graham Strange”, and he would be pleased to supply you with more information if you so wish. He is also now a Life Coach so he can teach others how to cope positively with all of life’s challenges.

Although I still care for him, I now have some free time during the day for my Holistic Therapy Practice and I would be honoured to treat you.

I qualified as a chartered physiotherapist in 1974 at St. Mary’s hospital in London. During my career in the National Health Service I have worked at Southampton General Hospital, Papworth Hospital in Cambridgeshire, Northampton General Hospital and finally Colchester General Hospital. My working experience covered all the general areas of medicine and surgery. At Papworth, I specialised in hypnotherapy and treating hyperventilators. Then at Colchester, where I worked for the last 20 years, I was a senior physiotherapist treating elderly patients and then I was the team leader heading the acute orthopaedic physiotherapy team. I retired in March 2007 for health reasons which have since been resolved. My episode of ill health has actually given me even more empathy for my clients.

As soon as I recovered my health, I was determined to expand all of my skills and learn new ones. The courses I attended were:

  • Part 1 and 2 of the National Federation of spiritual healing course
  • Chartered Society of Physiotherapy recognised courses in myofascial release, which is very gentle touch to release the tension in the connective tissue that is found throughout the body-muscles, tendons, ligaments ,blood vessels, nervous system, skeletal as well as the organs
  • The myofascial release courses also taught visualisation relaxation and positive thinking which I can help my clients with if they wish
  • The Bowen Technique course run by the European College of Bowen studies.

In June 2008, I qualified as a Bowen Therapist and am now a member of the “Bowen Therapy Professional Association. Since Qualifying as a Bowen Therapist, I have kept my skills up to date and learnt new skills by attending courses annually. Even when I was unable to work while caring for my husband in the early stages of his illness, I still managed to keep my skills to a high standard. He benefited enormously from Bowen Therapy and when I needed to go on a course he came with me. The other people on the courses were always very friendly and helpful.

In May 2010 I qualified as a Rahanni Angelic Healer and the founder of Rahanni, Carol Stacey, taught me at my home with Graham as the client so he benefited again. Please click here to see the details about Rahanni.

Graham and I are also trustees of the Catherine Bullen Foundation. This is an amazing charity set up by our dear friends Linda and Roger Bullen to improve the lives of very poor people in Namibia in memory of their very talented, beautiful daughter, Catherine. Catherine died in Namibia while on Safari before starting her medical school placements in Southern Africa. I worked with Linda for many years in the National Health Service in my capacity as a senior physiotherapist. It was through Linda’s diligence and swift action that Graham received the care he needed in the initial very acute phase of his illness. We are truly blessed to be trustees and also close friends of Linda and Roger.
